The Tamil Nadu government will file a defamation case against the Dinakaran Tamil daily for publishing a false report. On 5 June the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in his tweet requested the prime minister to incorporate Tamil as an optional subject in other states with the motive to promote the reach of Tamil language.
But, the Dinakaran Tamil daily on 6 June published a report in which they reported that the chief minister Edappadi K. Palanisswami accepted the three-language formula without verifying the actual facts. In response to that false report, the government has ordered to file a defamation case against the editor, the publisher and the printer in the session court.
